Vietnam’s business climate highlighted at forum in Singapore

The forum brought hundreds of experts, representatives, and scholars from various institutes, research agencies, and businesses together.
The event saw experts discuss the country’s current political and economic situation, the process of international economic integration amid increasing global trade tensions, along with legal reforms which have taken place nationwide since 2016 and their impact on the nation’s business climate.
In addition, participants deliberated a range of issues relating to the finance and banking sector, infrastructure, energy, and real estate.
During his opening speech, Choi Shing-kwok, director of the ISEAS, said there are plenty of opportunity for Vietnam in the context of global trade tensions. This is resulting in an increased investment in Vietnam as the Southeast Asian country boasts a dynamic and fast-growing economy coupled with a young population.
With regard to the nation’s role in the region and the world, Mr Shing-kwok noted that as a rapidly growing economy, Vietnam is an active member of the ASEAN bloc.
He affirmed his belief that the country holds a strong strategic vision and is crucial to the needs of ASEAN amid global uncertainties, noting that Vietnam has a good track record as a responsible nation in the United Nations.
He expressed his hope that Vietnam will continue to help promote the role of ASEAN and grow into an ever responsible and important member of the international community.
