Vietnam, Sweden full of determination to further foster bilateral ties
Vice President Thinh highlighted the visit by the Crown Princess as an important event in a range of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (1969 - 2019).
The two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation which has been expanded across politics-diplomacy and trade-investment to culture-education, thus delivering benefits to their people.
Both sides should continue to maintain high-level exchange visits as a way of providing motivation for stepping up bilateral cooperation in multiple fields, Thinh told her guest.
She conveyed the regards and invitation to visit Vietnam from Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong to the King and Queen of Sweden.
In reply, Crown Princess Victoria applauded Vietnam’s socio-economic development and international integration achievements while affirming that her nation attributes great importance to developing its cooperative ties with Vietnam, a country having an important position in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The two sides consented to work hand in hand to help their businesses to seek more investment and business partnerships, especially in the processing and support industries, science-technology, education-training, healthcare, the environment, smart urban construction, and information-communications.
Thinh asked Sweden to continue having a strong voice supporting the settlement of disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law in order to maintain peace, security, and navigation freedom and safety in the East Sea.
She also urged Sweden to back Vietnam’s run for a non-permanent member seat at the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term.
Thinh suggestd Sweden continue offering favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, do business, and integrate into the host society as a contribution to reinforcing the bilateral ties.
Late on the day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh hosted a banquet in honour of Crown Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Désiree and her delegation.
Crown Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Désiree and her husband are on an official visit to Vietnam from May 6-8 at the invitation of Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Sweden.
