Vietnam, Laos promote legislative ties
National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the remarks at a reception for Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Somphanh Phengkhammy in Hanoi on August 15.
NA Chairwoman Ngan congratulated Laos on the successful 10th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), and the elections of deputies to the 13th NA and the People’s Councils at provincial and municipal levels.
She expressed her belief that the Lao NA will continue making remarakable contributions to the implementation of the Resolution adopted at the 10th Party Congress and the 8th five-year socio-economic development plan.
The NA Chairwoman applauded Laos’ legislative achievements, including the approval of the revised Constitution that helped reinforce the legal system of the Lao State.
The top legislator said she will attend the workshop on the Vietnamese and Laos National Assemblies and the inauguration of the Vietnam-Lao relic site in Lao Kho hamlet, Son La province.
These two events will be held to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam and Laos diplomatic ties.
The Lao NA leader said his ongoing visit to Vietnam is designed to study the position, role, functions and power of the provincial and municipal People’s Councils, adding that the Lao delegation is set to visit the central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An and Ho Chi Minh City in the south.
He said the Lao NA hopes to work with Vietnam on hosting a workshop sharing experience in public debt management and supervision.
The Lao official urged the two law-making bodies to intensify exchanges between the two countries’ peoples and officials.
