Vietnam-Laos Friendship, Solidarity Year 2017 ends in success

President Quang highlighted the significance of Vietnam and Laos Friendship Year during which the two countries have celebrate the 55th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and 40 years of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

Both sides have held a broad range of activities, exchanged 300 delegations at all levels, and joined hands in effectively carrying out signed agreements and cooperation programmes and plans,thereby elevating ties to a higher level.

He reviewed major celebratory activities launched during the year in both countries, including a youth friendship meeting and a programme on following footprints of Vietnamese and Lao leaders from October 30 -November 4 in Laos and from November 5-11 in Vietnam, which helped educate the two countries’ younger generations about the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

The Vietnamese State leader described the whole year of 2017 as a common festival of the two nations, a success and a milestone in the Vietnam-Laos relations.

Sharing President Quang’s opinions, the top Lao leader said that the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and nurtured by many generations of leaders of both countries, is the valuable assets of both peoples, and a decisive factor behind the success of the revolutionary cause of the two nations.

He emphasized the need for people, especially youths of the two countries to be highly cognizant of their responsibility in preserving and developing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

The Party, State and people of Laos will work hand in hand with the Vietnamese side to maintain the special ties, which is seen as as an unlimited strength advancing the two countries to socialism.

On the same day,Bounnhang Vorachith met with President of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) Tran Van Tuy, during which he stressed the significance of cooperation between Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Friendship Associations to the special relationship between the two nations.

Despite the conclusion of Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2017, more cooperation activities, especially those aiming to educate young people of the two countries about the special solidarity will be planned.

He pledged his best efforts to make the friendship, special solidarity and all-around cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples fruitful and effective.

For his part, Tuy briefed the Lao leader on the association's activities as well as coordination with its Lao counterpart to reinforce the solidarity between Vietnamese and Lao people, and boost collaboration in economy, culture, health care and education between the two countries.

The two associations will continue boosting their coordination in friendship exchanges as a contribution to deepening mutual understanding and tightening the solidarity, he told the top Lao leader.

Later the same day, Bounnhang Vorachith and his delegation left Hanoi to visit the central province of Nghe An.
