Corporations and general companies quickly restore production after storms and floods

VCN - After storm No. 3, many corporations and general companies suffered great losses. However, with the role of economic “locomotives”, corporations and general companies are quickly overcoming the damage and restoring production and business after storm No. 3.

According to information from the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, regarding human losses, Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV) had 2 sailors of Cam Pha Port and Logistics Company die while participating in on-duty work; Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) had 1 Vinh Phuc electricity official die while participating in strengthening the restoration of the power system after the storm in Quang Ninh province; Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) had one worker die, one official while on duty lost his wife and 2 children at home due to flash floods.

Regarding assets and materials, in the energy sector, in Quang Ninh province alone, 2,175 electric poles were broken or fell; 48 transformer stations were damaged; 71,466m of wires were damaged, causing widespread power outages.

In the field of telecommunications and information technology, the telecommunications network infrastructure has broken 12 high masts, damaged 270 power lines, broken 670 fiber optic cables; damaged 220 stations...

However, up to now, EVN has actively implemented measures to overcome the damage. Power supply to important loads in Quang Ninh province has basically been restored; most of the medium voltage lines in Hai Phong have been restored.

VNPT has also deployed synchronous solutions to fix mobile and fixed broadband service problems, ensuring uninterrupted communication. It is expected that VNPT will basically fix the problem of fixed broadband subscribers losing communication before September 30, 2024. MobiFone stores in Hai Phong, Quang Ninh... have also been open all night to support charging, free roaming...

In the field of transport infrastructure, passenger transport and logistics, storm No. 3 caused flooding, damage to toll collection equipment, broken crops, power outages... Damage to railway infrastructure assets invested by the State is estimated at about VND 130 billion; over 30 landslides covered the railway; over 40 flooded locations, washed away roadbeds, stone foundations; hundreds of locations of trees and architectural objects falling onto the railway...

Noi Bai and Cat Bi international airports suffered damage to terminal equipment, ground service vehicles, etc. Equipment, warehouses, and some cranes at Hai Phong port were derailed and structurally deformed due to strong winds; many warehouses and offices suffered heavy damage with an estimated total loss of nearly VND,27.5 billion not to mention the damage to some cranes at Hai Phong port that required an assessment by the manufacturer and damage assessment costs.

But up to now, through the recovery work, the entire air, rail and road transport routes have been cleared; especially 700 tons of relief goods were transported by rail, 30 tons of relief goods were transported by air from Ho Chi Minh City to the North.

In the industrial production sector, due to proactive measures to prevent storm No. 3, corporations and general companies represented by the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises did not suffer much damage; however, factories, warehouses, etc. were also affected.

In the field of agricultural and forestry production, most of the northern forestry units of the Vietnam Forestry Corporation (Vinafor) were severely affected by storm No. 3.

According to information reported by the units, the affected area and damage is 1,237 hectares of planted forests; the value of damaged planted forests is estimated at VND 25.9 billion; nursery gardens are about 4.4 billion; other assets are VND 2 billion... Some machinery systems and warehouses were damaged by storm No. 3, leading to some agricultural products being susceptible to mold and damage; some other member units of the Corporation in provinces such as Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Son La... production and business activities were also greatly affected after the storm.

However, corporations and general companies have promptly overcome the situation, not only stabilizing production and business activities but also participating in supplying goods and supporting people and localities suffering losses.

The Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood 1) and the Southern Food Corporation (Vinafood II) still ensure the quantity of food and goods to meet the food needs of the people, without causing shortages.
