Vietnam-Japan import and export reached more than $20 billion in the first 6 months of the year

Currently, the scale of import-export turnover between Vietnam and Japan ranks fourth after China, the United States, and South Korea.
According to the latest information from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first six months of 2022, the total export turnover of Vietnam to Japan reached $11.38 billion, up nearly 13% over the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of $1.3 billion.
In the first six months of the year, there were three groups of export goods with a value of $1 billion or more, including garments and textiles with nearly $1.67 billion; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with $1.364 billion; means of transport and spare parts with $1.2 billion.
On the other hand, imports from Japan in the first six months totaled $12 billion, up 10.6% over the same period last year, equivalent to an increase in turnover of $1.15 billion.
Similarly, there were three commodities with a gain of $1 billion, including computers, electronic products and components with more than $3.5 billion; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts with $2.14 billion; and iron and steel with more than $1 billion.
In the past six months, the trade balance between the two countries has been relatively balanced (Vietnam has a trade deficit of $620 million).
In 2021, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Japan will reach nearly $43 billion, of which our country's exports are $20.13 billion, and imports are $22.8 billion.
