Thailand, Indonesia and China make up 92% of car imports in October

According to theGeneral Department of Customs, the country imported 13,653 CBU cars, worth US$283 million in October (in September, imported volume of CBU cars of all kinds was 12,670 units, worth US$256 million).
In October, CBU cars of all kinds registered for customs procedures imported into Vietnam mainly originated from three main markets, namely Thailand with 7,599 units, Indonesia with 4,048 units and China with 918 units.
Thus, the volume of cars imported from these three markets accounted for 92% of Vietnam car imports in October.
Regarding kinds of cars, less than nine-seat cars were most imported. In the month, there were 10,379 cars imported into Vietnam with a value of US$191 million, accounting for 76% of CBU car imports. With this result, the number of less than nine-seat cars imported to Vietnam in the month saw an increase of 6.7%month-on-month (equivalent to an increase of 648 units).
Less than nine-seat cars were registered for import declaration mainly in Hai Phong port area with 5,329 units, up 47% and HCM City with 5,033 units, down 17.2% month-on-month.
Less than nine-seat CBU cars were imported from Thailand with 5,631 units, up 25.4% and Indonesia with 3,809 units, down 16.7% month-on-month.
Trucksranked second with an import volume of 2,426 units, worth US$55.6 million; up 2.8% in volume but down 14.3% in value over the previous month.
Of which, there were 1,917 trucks originating from Thailand, accounting for 80% of the total in October.
Trucks were imported mainly through HCM City port area with 1,096 and Hai Phong port area with 1,045. In addition, there were 167 trucks imported through Lang Son border gate.
In addition to the two main kinds mentioned above, in October, 826 specialisedcars were imported with a declared value of US$35.5 million, up 44.9% in volume and 33.9% in value compared to the previous month.
China dominated this kind with 487 units, up 49% compared to September; In addition, there were 125 cars imported from America and 81 cars imported from South Korea.
By the end of October, the volume of imported CBU cars hit80,110 units, a decrease of 33.8% year-on-year.

Of which, less than nine-seat cars were 59,699 units, down 34.2%; and trucks were 15,536 units, down 38.5%.
