In the first four months, Vietnam imported 50,161 CBU units of all kinds, with a total turnover of $1.12 billion, increasing by 56.5% in volume and 58.2% in turnover from the same period in 2020.

In terms of markets, Thailand, Indonesia and China dominated.

Thailand continued to claim the top spot with 25,732 vehicles and turnover of $474.8 million. Next is Indonesia with 13,873 vehicles, turnover of $172.8 million and China with 6,633 vehicles, turnover of $247 million.

With a total of 46,238 cars, the three main markets accounted for 92.2% of total imported cars.

The number of cars imported from the above three countries all increased sharply, but the number of imported cars from the Chinese market skyrocketed up to 480% over the same period in 2020 (only 1,143 vehicles in the same period last year).
