Preliminary statistics of the General Department of Customs showed that total exports and imports of Vietnam in the 2nd half of September (from 16-9 to 30-9) reached more than $US 15.84 billion, 11.8 % higher, corresponding to an increase of nearly $ 1.68 billion in comparison with the results of the first half of this year.

The above results contributed to the total value of exports and imports in the first 9 monthswhich reached nearly $US 253.44 billion,up by 3.9%, corresponding to a rise of approximately $US 9.5 billioncompared to the same period in 2015.

Regardingexports, the total turnover of Vietnam in the 2nd half of September reached more than $US 8.5 billion, increasing by 22.8% (corresponding to an increase of nearly $US 1.58 billion in absolute terms) vs. the first 15 days of September.

According to the analysis of the General Department of Customs, the turnover of exports in the 1st term in comparison with 2nd term of Septemberwas mainly due to the strong growth of some major product groups such as: Phones and components increasing by 23%; textiles and garmentsincreasing by 17.1%; footwear increasing by 31.6%,; seafood up 34.8%; computers, electronic products and components increased up by 11.6%.

Thus, by the end of September, total export turnover of Vietnam reached nearly $US 128.58 billion, up by 7%, which was equivalent toagrowth of nearly $US 8.43 billion over the same period in 2015.

In terms of imports, the total value of goods inthe last 15 days of September was more than $US 7.34 billion, up by 1.3% (respectively rising $US 95 million in absolute terms) compared with the first period of the month.

Import turnover of goods increased by some major groups of imported goods including: Machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts increasing by 6.3%; telephones and components increasing by 11.2%; animal feed food and raw materials increasingby 33%; automobiles rising by 57.6%; other vehicles and spare parts increasingby 90.3%.

Thus, by the end of September, the total imports of the country reached more than $US 124.86 billion, whichisa slight rise of0.9% (equivalent to more than $ 1.07billion) compared with the same period of 2015.

Based on the statistics of the General Department of Customs till the end of September, Vietnam has maintained a trade surplus of $US 3.72 billion.
