In 2017, there will be at least one certified enterprise which is eligible to export processed chicken to Japan.

The goal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is to build certified and qualified slaughterhouses in line with regulations on food safety of import countries to export Vietnam’s processed chicken all over the world.

In 2017, Vietnam will strive to have at least one certified enterprise qualified for food safety to export processed chicken in line with Codex standards or requirements of import countries.

Vietnam will make plans for food safety management in the key provinces of production, slaughter, processing and export of chicken and focus on promoting programs to monitor these districts and provinces.

Reportedly, the plan to monitor production and the supply chain of chicken exports includes 2 phases. Specifically, in Phase 1 (2016-2018), Vietnam will export processed chicken to Japan.

Phase 2 (after 2018), Vietnam will export processed chicken of some domestic businesses to other potential markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar and South Korea.

Also in this phase, Vietnam’s enterprises will proceed to complete documents for poultry exports to send the competent authorities of the countries wishing to import poultry products from Vietnam.

According to Mr. Hoang Thanh Van, the Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in 2016, Dong Nai proposed a biosafety production program to export processed chicken to Japan.

Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd. is the first company to participate in this program and are currently accomplishing a processing plant in line with Japanese standards. This year, the company will export the first shipment of processed chicken into the Japanese market. Most chicken exports are processed chicken or heated chicken (grilled, smoked and boiled) and are often marinated (with salt and Japanese-style sauces).
