Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of February, 2023

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of February of 2023 totaled US dollars 72.32 billion in value terms. It posted a decrease of 13.7% (equivalent to USD 11.46 billion) from the same period of previous year.

In the view of FDI traders, the total value of exportation and importation in the first 2 months of 2023 reached USD 51.8 billion respectively, down by 11.5% as compared to the same period of 2022.

Export:

When compared with the second half of January-2023, export of first half of February up by 49% mostly as a result of the upward registered in computer, electrical products (up by 53.9% - USD 718 million equally); machine, equipment, tools and instruments (up by 47.7% - USD 560 million); textiles and garments (up by 77.9% - USD 528 million equally).

Import:

In the first half of February 2023, import increased by 36.6% when compared with second half of January, mainly reflecting the widen of computer, electrical products (up by 24.6% - USD 645 million equally); machine, tools and equipments (up by 43.9% - USD 465 million equally); plastics (up by 100.2% - USD 203 million equally).
