PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Google’s President of Asia-Pacific Operations Karim Temsamani (L)
PM Phuc welcomed the Vietnam visit by Google’s President of Asia-Pacific Operations Karim Temsamani for the WEF ASEAN event, saying that Goolge draws a large number of users across the globe, including those from Vietnam. Google is frequently used and loved by Vietnamese, Phuc told his guest.
With regard to Google’s cooperation in Vietnam over the past years, the government leader stated that with a population of nearly 100 million people, Vietnam holds huge potential for developing information technology (IT) and regards it as a spearhead field in the country’s process of industrialisation and modernization. Vietnam is hence seen as a promising market for Google, he noted.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the PM asked Google to take heed to maintaining Vietnam’s cultural identities while operating in Vietnam while extoling Google’s effective coordination with the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications in building a process of dealing with Vietnamese law-breaking cases of using Google.
Phuc also desired Google’s continued cooperation in developing IT in Vietnam, especially in startups and human resources training.
For his part, Temsamani assured Google’s readiness to support Vietnam during the process of digitalizing the economy. In the Vietnam Digital 4.0 Programme, Google sets a target of providing free training on digital skills for 500,000 small- and medium-sized Vietnamese enterprises by 2020 to help them sharpen competitiveness and grasp more business opportunities in the digital economy, he said.
Google will realize initiatives to help Vietnamese farmers digitalise agricultural production, and support people working in innovation and manufacturing fields in effectively promoting their products on Google’s Youtube channel.
He also affirmed Google’s greater contributions to the building of a technological eco-system in Vietnam.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc recieves Carlsberg CEO Cees‘t Hart
Talking with Carlsberg CEO Cees‘t Hart, PM Phuc said that Vietnam is augmenting cooperation across multiple fields with Denmark, particularly in economics, adding that businesses like Carlsberg play an important role in economic cooperation between the two countries. He suggested Carlsberg increase production to the full designed capacity at its plant in Phu Bai, in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
Vietnam is speeding up the signing of the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UVFTA), which will offer the optimal conditions for both countries’ enterprises, including those from Denmark.
Vietnam is expediting the equitisation and pestment in State-owned enterprises in line with the principles of the market economy, transparency, and openness, which will provide plentiful opportunities for foreign investors, including Carlsberg, Phuc told his guest.
With the beer-maker’s interest in state capital pestment at Hanoi Beer Alcohol and Beverage JSC (Habeco), Phuc urged both sides to soon discuss and deal with existing problems to promote the share purchase and strategic cooperation contracts.
In reply, the Carlsberg CEO said his company has operated in Vietnam since 2007 and has already invested in a number of beer brands in the country.
Carlsberg is keen to expand operations in Vietnam and wishes to invest more in Habeco after becoming its strategic investor since 2008.
Carlsberg has worked with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies of Vietnam to accelerate the process, he said, while hoping for more effective business operations in Vietnam.
