Physical inspections for all metal ammunition boxes
Customs officers implement physical inspections of goods. |
Currently, according to Decision 80/2006/ QD-BQP of the Defence Ministry, hollow metal boxes are not located in the list of prohibited exports and imports. However, the Defense Ministry and the General Department of Vietnam Customs have reached consensus that these goods are likely to affect national security, social order and safety, and consequently should be carefully inspected and controlled during the process of import.
The Ministry of Defense has directed that functional authorities should strictly manage and clarify the purpose of ammunition boxes before Customs clearance. Also, the Ministry of Defense recommended that the General Department of Vietnam Customs inspect, review their origin, and then implement physical inspections for all ammunition boxes.
In order to ensure settlement of Customs clearance for these goods, but still implement strict management, the General Department of Vietnam Customs directed local Customs Branches to implement physical inspections for all imported hollow metal boxes, exclusively used for ammunition storage.

In addition to records of imported goods under current regulations, the importers must provide commitment forms and take responsibility for importing goods used for civilian purposes. Thus, on the basis of results of physical inspections of goods and enterprises’s commitment documents, Customs officers will implement Customs procedures for imports of these items.
