Over 90% of businesses resume operation

VCN - According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, so far, many provinces and cities across the country have recorded from 80% to over 90% of businesses resuming operations and restoring production chains.

Specifically, in Long An province, as of November 18, 2021, it is estimated that 91% of enterprises have resumed operation with about 330,000 employees (the province has 13,590 registered enterprises).

In which, about 3,400 manufacturing enterprises with 263,166 employees; about 4,000 businesses dealing in essential goods and services with about 57,800 employees.

Most of the enterprises in the remaining service industries (commercial, restaurant, consulting, other services) have also come into operation, but have not sent the plan to restore production and business to the management agency.

The remaining businesses that have not yet operated include businesses that have not yet received orders, while businesses in the hotel, travel, tourism, children's game services, swimming pools, are still worried about the pandemic.

Similarly, in Ben Tre province, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said, so far, the province has 3,841 operating enterprises with 92,067 employees (accounting for 89% of the total number of operating enterprises); 46,072 business households with 82,902 employees (accounting for 93.1% of the total number of active business households).

Currently, enterprises in the province are gradually returning to production and business activities in the new situation. Specifically, coconut businesses produce about 50-60% of their capacity because the raw materials of coconut fruit are low in output and high in price. The raw material seafood business is stable, but due to a decrease in market demand, it is currently producing 30-40% of its capacity and is expected to reach about 80% of the year’s plan by the end of the year.

Garment enterprises operate stably in the new situation, however, the cost of input materials has increased by 10-30% and is facing a shortage of labor resources, expected to reach about 70% of the year’s plan by the end of the year.

Soc Trang province has 312 enterprises engaged in industrial production with a total of 48,694 employees.

In which, An Nghiep Industrial Park has 47 operating enterprises with 22,000 employees; outside the industrial park, there are 265 operating enterprises with 26,694 employees. So far, enterprises in An Nghiep Industrial Park have restored production by 84% and enterprises outside the industrial zone have reached 54.4% of capacity.

For Dong Thap province, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said the number of operating enterprises approved by the district People's Committee is 264 of 431 enterprises with 46,365 of 54,116 employees. According to the Special Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the production recovery of enterprises in the province is accelerating in order to quickly adapt to the new situation.

In Can Tho city, by November 17, 2021, 984 manufacturing enterprises (equivalent to 84.25%) have resumed operations (an increase of 676 enterprises compared to October 18, 2021). The remaining 184 enterprises have not yet developed a plan to resume production operations (equivalent to 15.75%).

According to the assessment of the Department of Industry (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and industry associations, in general, the support policies of the State in recent years have promoted effectiveness in removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses.

The positive impact in October showed signs of recovery when the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) was estimated to increase by 6.9% compared to the previous month.

In particular, key export industries such as textiles, garments, footwear, and electronics are forecasted by associations to have a high export turnover in 2021 compared to 2020 when businesses gradually have access to many large international orders.

However, a representative of the Department of Industry said that the Covid-19 pandemic continued to be unpredictable. The risk of disease outbreaks can happen again anywhere and anytime.

The pandemic has also changed many aspects of socio-economic life and people's consumption habits, causing difficulties and challenges for businesses in forecasting the market to estimate business results.
