Orders come back, enterprises are gradually recovering

Many positive signals

According to the Department of Statistics of Binh Duong province, Binh Duong's economic situation recorded many positive signs in the first 8 months of 2023. Notably, the trade balance of goods had a surplus of 6.1 US$ billion. Of which, the economic sector with domestic investment had a trade surplus of US$ 1.8 billion, and the economic sector with foreign direct investment capital had a trade surplus of US$ 4.3 billion.

The value of export turnover in August is estimated at more than US$ 3 billion, up 4.2% over the same period last year. Of which, the domestic economic sector reached US$ 581.9 million, the economic sector with foreign direct investment reached more than US$ 2,488 million. Accumulated in the first 8 months of 2023, the value of export turnover of goods in the whole province reached more than US$ 20.4 billion.

According to Binh Duong Customs Department, some product groups with taxable turnover in August increased compared to the previous month. Specifically, for iron and steel products, taxable turnover in the month reached US$ 66 million, up 23.1% compared to the previous month. For chemical products, taxable turnover in the month reached US$ 39 million, up 17.2% compared to the previous month. Other base metal products with taxable turnover reached US$ 43 million in the month, an increase of 11.3% compared to the previous month. These product groups currently account for over 35% of the total state budget revenue of Binh Duong Customs Department.

Information from the Binh Duong Wood Processing Association (Bifa) said that thanks to efforts to find orders at domestic and foreign fairs and exhibitions, many wood enterprises had production contracts until the end of September/ 2023. In addition, some other enterprises have new orders until December 2023. Binh Duong Wood Processing Association assessed that although orders were not many, this was a good sign, partly helping wood enterprises overcome current difficulties.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Tran Van Uc, Head of Import-Export - Logistics Department, Panasonic Life Solutions Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that the company's production and export activities were currently recording many positive signs. On average, each month, the company carried out about 150 -200 import and export declarations. The export markets of company concentrated in the Middle East, Japan, Thailand... In particular, entering the early days of September 2023, the situation of import and export orders was increasing, the company must arrange overtime to ensure orders on schedule. And this September, a new factory of Panasonic Life Solutions Vietnam Co., Ltd. was put into operation, so the company was recruiting many workers.

Facilitating export activities

As a business that regularly carries out procedures at Thu Dau Mot Customs Branch (Binh Duong Customs Department), a representative of R-PAC Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that, as well as the general situation of import-export activities across the country, recently, the number of on-site export orders of the company decreased significantly. However, the company still proactively expands production activities, expands product lines to seek new markets and new customers. The evidence was that the number of direct export orders of company increased compared to last year. This group of customers was mainly in Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia and in the US market. Then, in early 2023, factory 6 located in My Phuoc 4, Binh Duong, with an area of more than 8,521.6 m2 and modern machinery and equipment lines, officially put into operation the production of high-end packaging products.

In general, the import-export situation of the company in the first months of the year faced many difficulties, but through the initiative of the head, R-PAC Vietnam Co., Ltd., proposed solutions to cope with the actual situation, along with the timely and effective support from Thu Dau Mot Customs Sub-Department in particular and Binh Duong Customs Department in general, the company had partly overcome the difficult period and was on the way to recovery and develop, representing R-PAC Vietnam Company Limited said.

Head of Binh Duong Customs Department Nguyen Tran Hieu said that in 2023, enterprises would face many difficulties, especially in Binh Duong province, import-export enterprises would have more difficulties than the whole country because key export products such as wood, textiles, garment, footwear… exporting to the US, European, Japanese, and Chinese markets had a big decline. To support enterprises to overcome difficulties, in addition to implementing the solutions proposed by the Government, the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Customs, and the People's Committee of Binh Duong Province, Binh Duong Customs Department closely followed the local situation and implemented many groups of solutions, both solving difficulties for production and business of enterprises, and creating favourable conditions for new investment enterprises in Vietnam.

A representative of the Customs Procedures Department, Techtronic Industries Vietnam Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TTI Vietnam) said that TTI Vietnam was currently exporting goods to many demanding and important markets around the world. In recent times, although the world economic situation faced many difficulties, the Company's production and business activities still achieved solid results.

To achieve the above results, there was timely companionship and support from Binh Duong Customs Department in general for import and export activities of Company. Functional divisions of the Customs agency provided timely consultation and answered questions related to legal requirements to help the Company grasp, understand and properly implement Customs law regulations. In addition, the Customs offices always supported the Company such as: inspecting goods overtime, carried out customs procedures on Saturdays, holidays… to meet the export needs and 24/7 working time of the Company. These supports had greatly facilitated TTI's production and business activities, contributing to socio-economic development in the area, TTI Vietnam said.
