According to a report of the World Bank (WB) published not long ago, Vietnam ranked 43rd in the ranking of LPI - Logistics Performance Index), among the top 5 countries in ASEAN, after Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, and in the same position as the Philippines. Therefore, many comments say that the average annual growth rate of Vietnam's logistics market is from 14-16%, making an important contribution to bringing Vietnam's total import and export turnover in 2022 to US$ 730.2 billion, up 9.1% over the same period in 2021.
In the first 6 months of 2023, the total export and import turnover of goods reached US$ 316.65 billion, down 15.2% over the same period last year. Therefore, promoting the development of the logistics market and activities is focused gradually.
Therefore, at the Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Region (FIATA RAP), the AFFA Mid-Year Conference of the Federation of International Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) hosted by Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA)in Da Nang from July 14 to 15, experts and businesses come up with many solutions for the development of the logistics industry such as facilitating commercialization for cross-border transport; strengthening human resource training in the logistics industry, sustainable development and digital transformation in the logistics industry...
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen SinhNhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade emphasized that with a special geopolitical position, it was located in a dynamic development area of the world where the flow of goods was concentrated to exchange, and the integration was deepening in the global economy, the growth rate of import and export and e-commerce was always at double digits, Vietnam was becoming an attractive destination for logistics activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

However, according to Deputy Minister Nguyen SinhNhat Tan, the logistics service industry in the Asia-Pacific region in particular and internationally, in general, was facing many unpredictable changes. Along with the development of science and technology, the trend of globalization was also opening up many new opportunities and challenges for the logistics industry.
Therefore, the Government, the Prime Minister, and the ministries, branches, and localities are always interested in leading, directing, supporting, and promoting the synchronous implementation of solutions to optimize logistics costs, improve competitiveness, and create a favorable environment for the development of the logistics service industry.
Therefore, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade stated that such conferences were held as an opportunity for logistics service and import-export associations, enterprises of Vietnam, and other countries in the region to have the opportunity to meet and exchange business cooperation opportunities as well as share experiences in developing logistics services for opening up opportunities to promote import and export and improve competitiveness for businesses.
Mr. Le DuyHiep, President of VLA also affirmed that the series of events was the highlight of the logistics and transportation industry in Asia, from which, they would focus on the discussion on new challenges, trends as well as sustainable development requirements in the region.
In addition to important agendas, many behind activities were organized within the framework of the event to connect domestic and foreign business exchanges such as B2B among more than 100 businesses, and many cooperation among businesses. Had been committed to creating development opportunities for logistics businesses in the Asia - Pacific region. Many logistics and export businesses of Vietnam expressed their joy with the opportunity to meet and exchange cooperation opportunities and learn from the world's experience in developing logistics services, opening up opportunities to increase import and export and enhance competitiveness.
On the eve of the Conference, on the occasion of the visit to Vietnam to attend the aforementioned Conference Series, FIATA President Ivan Petrov and FIATA General Director Stéphane Graber and Federation leaders had a meeting and worked with the Prime Minister. Vietnam Pham Minh Chinh on July 12. On behalf of the Government of Vietnam, the Prime Minister pledged to accompany domestic and foreign partners, support and create all favorable conditions for economic - investment - trade - service cooperation activities. special attention is paid to cooperation in developing logistics services to bring more benefits to the parties, contributing to bringing Vietnam's relations with other countries to a new height, and creating spillover effects to countries in the region. On the same day, the delegation visited and worked with leaders of Hai Phong city, Hai Phong Logistics Business Association, visited LachHuyen Deep Water Port - Tan Cang International Container Terminal - Hai Phong (TC-HICT) and Joint Stock Company for Construction of Traffic and Mechanical Works (HTM). |
