As a result, amid a severely difficult period, e-commerce has maintained its significance. During the second wave of the pandemic, both consumers and traders have a clearer look at the importance of e-commerce.VECOM has conducted a survey of nearly 60 businesses involved in e-commerce in five fields including online retail; logistics and order settlement; payment; digital marketing; and digital business solutions. The survey was conducted from June to September 2021.

Specifically, the number of new online consumers has increased and the majority of them have become smarter buyers and more proficient in online shopping skills. Even some have prioritized online shopping over traditional methods.

The survey results of four e-commerce floors in the leading group in Vietnam showed that the number of orders on e-commerce floors from June to September 2021 all surged from 8% to 50% year-on-year. Orders also increased by 8% to 10% compared to the plan from the beginning of the year.

This result is similar to the business trend of delivery service providers. A survey of nine leading enterprises in this field showed that most of them saw the same or higher order growth than the same period in 2020 with an average growth of about 12%.

E-commerce platforms become an effective sales channel for enterprises, especially groups of small and medium-sized enterprises, micro-enterprises or business households and individuals. Many new business solutions on the floor have been promoted such as the exploitation of livestream channels and the organization of promotional programs.

In general, the majority of enterprises participating in the survey are still optimistic about the development potential after the fourth outbreak. Specifically, up to 70% of surveyed enterprises think that the market will improve after the pandemic.
