According to the Hanoi Tax Department, the department manages 236,000 enterprises and 235,000 business households and over 10 million personal tax codes.
Therefore, the compliance with tax management requirements, improving the effectiveness of taxpayer support, and reducing the workload for tax officers, Hanoi Tax Department has focused on applying technological solutions, especially artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting taxpayers.
Since the beginning of 2024, Hanoi Tax Department has collected data sources from the system of legal documents on tax policies and legal policies related to the tax administrative procedures and questions raised at dialogue conferences between the Tax man and taxpayers. Currently, Hanoi Tax Department has built over 12,000 contents.

Virtual assistant supporting taxpayers is one of the first artificial intelligence application subsystems launched as part of the overall project of applying artificial intelligence to tax management researched and developed by Hanoi Tax Department.
From synthesizing and classifying the entire database of legal regulations, policies, tax administrative procedures, editing more than 10,000 bilingual questions... and being revised, combined with artificial intelligence technology, the Virtual Assistants will answer taxpayers' questions automatically, quickly with detailed, easy-to-understand content, integrated with current administrative procedure forms, intuitive and easy-to-understand instructional clips.
The taxpayer can easily use and interact with the Virtual Assistants 24/7, anytime, anywhere through technology devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers connected with the Taxation Portal, Etaxmobile application and the Ihanoi Digital Capital citizen application.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Director General of the General Department of Taxation Mai Xuan Thanh requested the Hanoi Tax Department and departments and branches to widely disseminate the use of the Virtual Assistants to taxpayers.
The Director General emphasized that in the initial stage, it is inevitable that the product will still have shortcomings, so it is necessary to assign the units to fully gather feedback from taxpayers to continue upgrading and perfecting the product.
Units need to update, supplement, and expand data sources; review and adjust data sources to ensure accuracy and provide the best service to taxpayers.
