According to Nguyen Bich Lam, Director General of the General Statistics Office, the country has over 5.86 million economic, administrative and non-business units, up 13.7%, equivalent to 0.7 million units, which attract 26.9 million employees, an increase of 18.6%, equivalent to 4.2 million employees. it annually increased by 2.6% on units, 3.5% on employees on average, lower than that of the 2007 – 2012 period by 5% and 6.7%, respectively.

He also said that the number of units and employees in the economic sector increased faster than that in the administrative and non-business sector, showing a positive trend of Vietnam’s socio-economic development.

Accordingly, in 2017, the number of economic units grew by 13.9%, and employees grew by 19.9% ​​compared to 2012. The number of administrative and non-business units in 2017 increased 2.3% and employees increased by 11.3%. % compared to 2012, in which administrative units increased slightly, mainly in non-business units.

Notably, the business sector has e the highest growth in both employees and units, with nearly 517,900 existing enterprises, an increase of 176,300 enterprises, up 51.6% against 2012.

The business sector attracted more than 14 million employees, up 28.2% (equivalent to 3.1 million people) compared to 2012.

In which, 505,100 enterprises are in actual operation and 12,860 enterprises registered their operation but are in the investment process and have not operated.

Of the enterprises, 10,100 large enterprises increased 29.6% (up nearly 2.300 enterprises) compared to January 1st, 2012 and accounted for a modest rate of 1.9%.

The number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was 507,860, up 52.1% (equivalent to 174,000 enterprises) compared with 2012, accounting for 98.1%.

Another piece of data released by the General Statistics Office was that the application of information technology of economic, administrative and non-business units continued to increase but online public services were still provided at a low rate.

As of July 1, 2017, the number of business and administrative units using computers increased from 9.9% in 2012 to 15.6% in 2017, the number of units with internet connection rose from 8.7% to 41.4%, and the number of units having their own websites rose from 1.1% to 2.7%.
