Khanh Hoa eligible to be declared free from COVID-19: Health Ministry
At the meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control
The National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control unveiled the latest developments of localities that had previously announced signs of the Covid-19 epidemic on February 17.
Most notably, Khanh Hoa has not recorded any new cases of the virus for a total of 30 days, whilst Thanh Hoa has gone 23 days with no new cases.
Deputy Minister Tuyen stated that following the first COVID-19 case being confirmed on January 17, Khanh Hoa has not reported any new cases.
The province has been swift to take preventive measures in line with regulations and guidance set out by the Ministry of Health (MoH), said Mr Tuyen, noting that the MoH is working alongside the locality to finalise a document that will be submitted to the MoH to declare free from the epidemic.
The Deputy Minister went on to say that since January 24, only one case of COVID-19 has been recorded in Thanh Hoa province.
The provinces of Thanh Hoa, Khanh Hoa, and Vinh Phuc have all been successful in implementing strict measures to combat the epidemic so far.
According to regulations, if Thanh Hoa does not have any more new patients who are infected by the COVID-19 over the course of the next five days, the MoH will direct Thanh Hoa to complete the document to declare them free from the epidemic.
Deputy Minister of Health Tuyen also affirmed that prevention activities in Son Loi and Vinh Phuc have been implemented in an effective manner, with there being no new cases for seven days.
He went on to stress that the MoH recommends that localities keep conducting strict surveillance and detection of new cases and put any new discoveries in quarantine in a timely manner.
