The similar training workshop was held in Ha Noi on June 16 and will be held in Can Tho City on June 23. The training workshops share the Project’s outputs and focal points relating to Viet Nam’s law and regulations on construction at the presence of representatives from concerned authorities in both central and provincial levels, Project Management Units (PMUs), contractors and consultants, etc.
The JICA-funded project, which has been implemented by MOC and JICA experts, aims at enhancing the capacity of staff and related organizations under MOC which directly involved in construction projects, with an ultimate goal that construction projects in Viet Nam are managed according to international standards and regulations for the management of public construction projects.
After more than 2 years of implementing the Project with all outputs successfully realized, the training workshop this time focuses on two main outputs of the Project including Contractor Capacity Evaluation and Contract Management. These outputs are expected to help improve the monitoring of public investment and thus improve its effectiveness as a result.
Viet Nam has maintained sustainable economic growth in recent years and implemented a large number of major infrastructure development projects. However, due to insufficient project management and inadequate quality and safety management in construction works, many construction accidents have been recorded.

In addition, construction contracts have been insufficiently managed to lead to numerous disputes, which therefore have obstructed a smooth implementation of the construction projects. To address the issue, the Government of Viet Nam had requested JICA to implement the Project. CCQSP has been then prepared and implemented since April 2015 and planned to last until March 2018.
