VCN- On the morning of 24th May 2017, the Ministry of Finance organised the online conference on "the 5th Financial Statistics" to unify the guidance and deployment plan of information technology (IT) application and Financial Statistics for 2016-2020. The deep and wide application

At the opening speech, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung said that in recent years, the Finance had made rapid and steady progress, fulfilled the political mission of the sector, mobilised and used the financial resources effectively for the socio-economic development of the country. These achievements have made a considerable contribution to the financial information system and statistics.

Till now, IT has been applied deeply and extensively in almost all financial activities, becoming an indispensable factor in the key professional activities such as managing state budget; management of State budget revenues and expenditures; electronic payment and Government bond management; management in the field of Taxation and Customs; electronic taxation, e-Customs; the National Single Window, the ASEAN Single Window; public debt management; price management, public asset management; management and supervision of financial markets; and State reserve management.

The Minister of Finance emphasized: While the Government is stepping up the application of information technology in all branches and fields in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of State management and administration, improve the business environment, enhance competitiveness and create favourable conditions for people and businesses, all units in the Finance sector should consider modernizing the financial information system as the core issue in the modernization of the Finance, coordinating well with the information system and financial statistics to successfully carry out the above tasks.

The efficiency of services is improved

Speaking at the conference, the Director of Financial Informatics and Statistics Department, Mr. Dang Duc Mai said that in the period 2011-2015 and 2016, the Finance focused on the completion and deployment of wide systems, centralized data processing, using modern technology solutions, IT applications associated with financial mechanism reform, restructuring of business processes in accordance with international practices with many important results.

For example, the Finance has promoted the provision of information and online public administrative services for units affiliated with the budget, individuals and enterprises; the application of IT in financial management. And administrative reform; focusing on developing applications for core business nationwide; strengthening IT application in the handling of internal affairs; maintaining, upgrading, supplementing and expanding the technical infrastructure from the previous period; building and organizing a unified IT staff from the central to local levels and promoting the training of basic computer knowledge for staff; investing and supporting the provincial / municipal finance services so as to raise the IT capacity of local Finance Departments to meet the uniformity in the Finance.

According to Mr. Dang Duc Mai, in the period 2016-2020, the Ministry of Finance will continue to promote the implementation of e-Government, building a synchronized IT system among finance agencies at all levels in order to improve the quality and effectiveness of the operation and serve people and enterprises transparently in the network environment in line with the direction and administration of the Ministry of Finance.

The 5th Financial Statistics conference will be a milestone marking the development of IT application in the Finance in depth and efficiency, providing a wide range of financial information, digital contents, services, public online services for organisations, people and businesses. Also, time, data and information are synchronised among the units, systems of the Ministry of Finance and local financial units.

The above operations will contribute to the achievement of the objectives of modernization, integration and e-Government under the Government's direction and the successful completion of the 5-year plan for 2016-2020 on the application of information technology and statistics under the leadership of the Ministry of Finance.
