Imports and exports reach over US$473 billion in the first period of August

VCN - The latest preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show that the total import-export turnover in the first period of August 2024 (August 1-15) reached US$32.93 billion, down 11.4% (equivalent to a decrease of US$4.24 billion) compared to the results in the second half of July 2024.

The results achieved in the first half of August have brought the total import and export turnover of the whole country up to August 15, 2024, to US$473.33 billion, an increase of 16.9%, equivalent to an increase of US$68.58 billion compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first half of August, the trade balance of goods had a surplus of US$933 million. From the beginning of the year to August 15, 2024, the trade balance of goods had a surplus of US$15.49 billion.

Specifically, in terms of exports, the total turnover in the first half of August reached US$16.93 billion, a decrease of 14.9% compared to the second half of July 2024.

Exports in the first half of August decreased compared to the second half of July 2024 in some product groups such as: various types of phones and components decreased by 26.3%; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts decreased by 21.4%; textiles decreased by 10.3%...

From the beginning of the year to August 15, Vietnam's total export turnover reached US$244.41 billion, an increase of 16% compared to the same period in 2023.

Some product groups increased significantly such as: computers, electronic products, and components increased by 28.9%; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts increased by 21.3%; various types of phones and components increased by 11.1%; wood and wood products increased by 23.2%...

Vietnam's total import turnover in the first half of August reached US$16 billion, a decrease of 7.4% compared to the results achieved in the second half of July 2024.

Import groups with significantly decreased turnovers include: computers, electronic products, and components decreased by 6.1%; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts decreased by 6%...

From the beginning of the year to August 15, the total import turnover of the whole country reached US$228.92 billion, an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2023.

Of these, some product groups increased significantly such as: computers, electronic products, and components increased by 28.2%; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts increased by 16.5%; various types of iron and steel increased by 1, increased by 22.5%...
