Import-export turnover reached nearly US$65 billion in May

Import-export activities continued to maintain prosperity in May. |
According to General Department of Vietnam Customs, in May, the country's exports reached US$32.27 billion, increasing 3.9% over the previous month.
6 product groups achieved a billion-dollar turnover in May. Leading were computers, electronic products and components with US$5.53 billion, rising 7.8% over the previous month.
The next positions belong to phones and components; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts; textile; footwear; means of transport and spare parts; wood and wood products.
Among the 6 billion-dollar groups, only wood and wood products witnessed a decrease in turnover compared to the previous month (a reduce of 7%).
On the contrary, imports in May reached US$32.72 billion, a growth of 9.1% over the previous month.
May also recorded 5 groups of imported goods with a turnover of US$1 billion or more, including computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts; iron and steel; fabric; plastic materials.
Thus, in May, the country's total import-export turnover reached approximately US$65 billion, the second-highest level since the beginning of the year (the highest in January reached US$65.43 billion).
In total for 5 months, total import-export turnover reached US$303.94 billion. In particular, exports reached US$156.28 billion, an increase of 14.9% over the same period last year; imports reached US$147.66 billion, an growth of 17.3%.
In May, our country surferred a trade deficit of US$450 million, but overall for 5 months, the balance was still in surplus of US$8.62 billion.
