Ho Chi Minh Tax Department: Recoverable debt reduces over 28%

Tax debt management is considered as the key task, contributing to accomplishing the task of State revenue collection in 2017. Hence, from the beginning of the year, Ho Chi Minh Tax Department has strengthened the review and classification of tax debt in accordance with provisions and guidance, taken measures to collect debt and enforce the tax amount, fine for late payment and revenue related to land.
Especially, the Tax Department has deployed synchronously many measures, including developing data on automated messenger via SMS to the representatives of businesses (data of 4,000 businesses were developed), in 2017 sent messages to 2,000 businesses to collect tax debt; issuing 100% of notices on tax debt payment and late payment; issuing 8,080 turns of notices on applying enforcement measures, such as deducting money from accounts, notifying invoices for no longer use value, seizing property and revoking business registration certificates.
Also, the Department publicized information of 736 turns of tax debt business in website and magazine of the Tax sector.

According to Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, in 2018, the Department will assign target of debt collection to each relevant division and each Tax branch, and supervise and urge units to deploy debt collection in accordance with provisions to reduce the amount of Tax debt by 31st December 2018 and to not exceed the amount in 2017.
