Ho Chi Minh Customs Department: Revenue increased by VND 500 billion through specialized operations

Through the price ruling, tax revenues collected by Customs Branches inside and outside border gates increased VND 200 billion; revenues collected by Post Clearance Audit Branch increased VND 220 billion; revenues collected through post clearance audit for Customs declarations with 60 day-time limit at Customs branches increased over VND 80 billion.

Notably, through the many post clearance audits at Customs branches, the Customs detected false declarations on Tax codes by enterprises, leading to the insufficiency of large tax payable.

For example, the case of inspecting 51 import declarations of fruit syrups of L.G.V One Member Limited Liability Company (District 7- Ho Chi Minh), the Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 detected that the company falsely declared tax codes with lower tax rates, leading to the insufficiency of tax payable of VND 2.3 billion. Besides paying tax arrears, the company was fined over VND 457 million.

Previously, at the end of August 2018, the Sai Gon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1 sanctioned administrative violation for P.L Limited Liability Company (District 11- Ho Chi Minh City) of over VND 281 million and collected over VND 1.4 billion of tax arrears for imported color glass under 6 Customs declarations.

In the last months of the year, Ho Chi Minh Customs Department has requested Customs Branches to review and regularly inspect to detect consignments in which their HS codes are falsely declared during the Customs clearance to post Customs clearance, to accurately calculate the tax payable and sufficiently collect the tax to the State budget.
