On December 4, HCM City Customs Department collaborated with competent forces, including the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department and HCM City Police to tackle three special cases and seized about 25kg of MDMA, heroin and 18kg of marijuana that were illegally transported via international postal and express delivery services
Through internal and external data collection and classification of targeted goods and routes, the department made plans to control and arrest foreign suspects of the transnational drug trafficking ring, who transported huge volumes of drugs from Germany, France and the US, and detect domestic suspects who illegally transported drugs to Australia.
The customs detected over 10kg of synthetic drugs and 18kg of marijuana hidden in 20 shipments of imported non-commercial gifts; about 10kg of heroin and 6kg of suspected cocaine in five exported packages.
The drugs were hidden inside household items, scented wax melts, phonographs or pressed into the walls of boxes. Marijuana was hidden in cans of cereal and milk.
This is an excellent achievement of HCM City Customs Department in the first days of 2022.
Currently, the department is investigating the case.
Since early 2021, the department has handled 88 cases related to illegal transportation of drugs and seized about 200kg of narcotics.
