Ha Tinh Customs arrested 2 perpetrators transporting wild animals

VCN- According to the Ha Tinh Customs Department, the Customs Branch of Cau Treo international border gate has recently coordinated with the Cau Treo Border Guard and the Police of Huong Son District to arrest two perpetrators for illegal transportation of wild animals.

At 12 am on 8th January 2017, while the functional forces were on duty at the National Highway 8A, through the Son Diem Commune, Huong Son District, functional forces discovered two perpetrators, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Chi, born in 1974, residing at Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City, Nghe An and Mr. Tran Van Tuyen, born in 1984, residing at Village 2, Hung Yen Nam Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Nghe An Province illegally transporting 9 pangolins and 5 turtles with a total weight of about 28.1 kg to the car with plate number UN-9009 from Laos.

At the office of Customs, the two perpetrators confessed that they transported these goods for a person from Lac Xao District (Laos) to Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province for remuneration.

Customs detected 21 cases of wild animal and plant smuggling.

Currently, the incident is being further investigated under the Law.
