GDC answers Chinese Embassy about medical equipment

VCN –The General Department of Customs (GDC) has just responded in writing to the Chinese Embassy about the export of medical protective clothing.

Earlier, on February 4, the GDC also responded to the Chinese Embassy aboutexports of medical masks.The GDC said that according to the current provisions of Vietnamese law, medical protective clothing is not required to obtain licenses from authorities for export.

Specifically, exports of medical masks are not required to obtain licenses from authorities. Therefore, the GDC proposed the Embassy to notify this to exporting units that carry out export procedures with the customs office at the border gates.

During the Coronavirus epidemic, the GDC has issued many documents to direct provincial and municipal Customs Departments to implement prevention and control of the epidemic.

On February 5, the GDC issued Document 676/TCHQ-GSQL to guideprovincial and municipal Customs Departments on customs clearance for exported masks.

According tothe Government's Decree No. 69/2018 / ND-CP of May 15, 2018, "medical masks" are not on the list of goods banned from export and temporarily suspended from export, restricted from export or exported with permission from the authorities. Therefore, the provincial and municipal Customs Departments directs their Customs branches to carry out customs procedures in accordance with the law.

In addition, the GDC directed customs units in settling procedures for cross-border transportation of goods in accordance with the law. In particular, the units noted to coordinate with the authorities at the border gate to closely monitor the movement of vehicles and drivers of vehicles carrying goods (without passengers) in the Customs operation areas to prevent risks of the virus spreading.

At the same time, directing the Customs Departments of Northern border provinces (Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai and Dien Bien) to set up working groups to support export and import activities to prevent the epidemicand to act as a focal point for providing and exchanging information with the GDC when necessary.

On February 6, the GDC issued Document No. 695 / TCHQ-GSQL to the Consular Department - Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement a plan to bring Vietnamese citizens from China back home and provide aid to China.

In addition, the GDC also gave timely instructions to provincial and municipal Customs Departments to strengthen the prevention and control of acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of Coronavirus and ensure safety for customs officers during their duties at the border.
