The export turnover of fruit and vegetable in the first half of October plunged compared to the second half of September.
As of September 15, the fruit and vegetable exports achieved US$5.94 billion, up US$1.12 billion compared to the same period of the previous year.
Durian is the most important contributor to fruit and vegetable export turnover. By the end of September, durian export turnover reached over US$2.5 billion.
The export turnover from items such as bananas, mangoes, dragon fruit… also gained millions of USD.
In mid-October, fresh coconut shipments have been officially exported to China across Lao Cai and Lang Son Border Gates.
The increase in the quantity of agricultural products officially exported to China is an an important condition for the industry to increase its turnover, especially for fruits and vegetables.
China is currently the largest export market for Vietnam’s fruits and vegetables.
By the end of September, fruit and vegetable exports to the market reached US$3.79 billion, a sharp increase of 37.82% over the same period last year and accounting for 67.2% of the country’s total fruit and vegetable export turnover.
With the results achieved in the past nine months, the fruit and vegetable exports in 2024 expects to hit US$7 billion.
