Exporting phone reached $3 billion in 15 days

Information announced by General Department of Vietnam Customs showed that in the last 15 days of August 2019, total export turnover of the country reached nearly US$14 billion. In particular, only phones and accessories contributed more than $3 billion.
Besides that, computers, electronic products and component; textiles also contributed over $1 billion in the last 15 days of August. Specifically, computers, electronic products and components reached $1.92 billion; textile and garment reached more than $1.85 billion.
Thanks to the jump in the last 15 days,the export turnover of August reached nearly $25.9 billion, this was also the month that had the largest export turnover of Vietnam since the beginning of the year.
Remarkably, only in the last 15 days of August, export turnover almost reached figures achieved in the whole February.
From the beginning of the year to the end of August, the total export turnover of the whole country reached $ 171.3 billion, increasing by 8.1 percent over the same period in 2018. This is a significant rise compared to the first months of the year when Vietnam's export growth was sluggish. So far, phones and components remain the largest export group with a turnover of nearly $33.4 billion.
Meanwhile, computers, electronic products and components also surpassed textiles to stand in second place with $22.1 billion and $21.8 billion, respectively.
Regarding total export turnover, foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises contributed $117.2 billion, equivalent to about 68.4 percent.
In particular, FDI enterprises dominate in the phone and component products or groups of computers, electronic products and components.
In terms of market, by the end of August, there were many trading partners with export turnover of $1 billion or more.
The largest market was the US market with a total turnover of more than $39.2 billion, accounting for nearly 23 percent of the total export turnover of the country.
In addition, it could be mentioned the other major markets such as China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the Netherlands. Of that, three major markets in Asia were valued at $10 billion or more.
