Information at the Vietnam Logistics Human Resource Training Forum - VLET 2023 took place recently, Nguyen Thang Loi, Head of Research, Vietnam Institute of Logistics Research and Development said, businesses operating in the field The logistics and supply chain sectors are facing change and digitization in the process of operation and management. To meet the requirements of the development trend, human resources with professional qualifications and skills need to be trained and equipped with digital skills.

The survey results conducted by the Vietnam Logistics Research and Development Institute in July 2023 on digital skills in the field of logistics show that the level of competency assessment of employees in this field recognizes the skill of The method of implementing social responsibility was rated the highest (4.02/5), while the creative skill received the lowest score (3.21/5); digital transformation skills (3.23/5) and IT (3.28/5).

As for the implementation of policies and procedures to train employees in digital skills and digital transformation, more than 86.2% of enterprises are in the process of implementing or preparing to implement digital transformation. Thereby, it can be shown that currently businesses are very interested in digital transformation and digital skills training for human resources. In addition, more than 63% of businesses believe that it is necessary to cooperate with training institutions to improve digital skills for human resources.

From a business perspective, Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Director of Information Technology Division of U&I Logistics Joint Stock Company, said that from the challenges of human resources, the digital capacity of human resources and psychological barriers during the period. In digital transformation, the unit used warehouse management solutions to reduce operating personnel, transportation management solutions to optimize transportation. At the same time, apply solutions for customs brokers to increase customs clearance processing productivity and better manage accounting processes.

Dr. Le Ngoc Trung, Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Logistics Human Resource Development Association (VALOMA), Vice Rector of the College of External Economics said that VALOMA is implementing many activities to connect members to improve skills for logistics and supply chain lecturers towards promoting digital skills training for students effectively.

However, according to Bui Huu Nghia, Human Resource Development Director of U&I Logistics Joint Stock Company, in the process of digital transformation, U&I encountered some difficulties in IT human resources related to issues of the number, budget and qualifications of human resources at the time of implementation were still quite modest.

Pham Nam Long, General Director and Founder of Abivin Vietnam Joint Stock Company (ABIVIN), said that Vietnam's logistics workforce has a number of advantages in terms of digital skills based on adaptability, willingness to learn and most of them are still young so they quickly get used to technology. However, the inherent disadvantage that Vietnam's logistics workforce faces in terms of digital skills stems from the lack of in-depth training and limited exposure to advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning and advanced data analytics, hindering our ability to leverage these technologies to optimize operations.

With the same opinion, Le Doan Trinh, Commercial Director of EcoTruck Technology Joint Stock Company (ECOTRUCK) said that in order to improve digital skills for logistics personnel, it is necessary to link and combine training programs with business needs and guaranteed output. In addition, the training of human resources on the digital operating system needs to be done to make the digital transformation process of the business effective with the prerequisite requirements: right recruitment, right culture, right control as well as focus on promoting innovation, even after 100% digitization in operations.

Phan Huy Duc, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, College of Transport, said that the University faces many difficulties in digital skills training, especially difficulties in the group of digital infrastructure, digital platforms, capacity of the lecturers and staff; the level of technology application in teaching and the uneven level of information technology of students…

Accordingly, the cooperation between businesses, training institutions and state agencies in human resource training and digital skills training for human resources will help ensure the sustainable and effective development of the logistics and supply chain industry in Vietnam.
