Data from the General Statistics Office shows that the country's index of industrial production (IIP) in August 2023 is estimated to increase by 2.9% over the previous month and by 2.6% over the same period last year.

Besides, merchandise exports continued to be a bright spot in August with an increase of 7.7% over the previous month. Among them, some commodity groups had an increase in export value compared to the same period last year, such as: fruits and vegetables reached US $ 3.45 billion, an increase of 57.5%; rice reached US $ 3.17 billion, an increase of 36.1%; cashew nuts reached US $2.23 billion, up 8.9%; Coffee reached US $ 2.94 billion, up 2.3%; Animal care products increased by 26.1% over the same period last year.

This year, the US market has increased large orders, grapefruit was exported to the US and New Zealand. Other fruits such as longan, dragon fruit... are exported well. Overall it is a bright color scheme. By the end of the year, fruit exports in general have many prospects for further growth because of many orders.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Tran Van Uc, Head of Import-Export - Logistics Department, Panasonic Life Solutions Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that the company's production and export activities are currently recording many positive signs. On average, each month, businesses carry out about 150-200 import and export declarations. The export markets of enterprises are heavily concentrated in the Middle East, Japan, Thailand... In particular, entering the early days of September 2023, the situation of import and export orders is increasing, enterprises must arrange Workers work overtime to ensure orders are delivered on schedule. this September, a new factory of Panasonic Life Solutions Vietnam Co., Ltd. was put into operation, so the company is recruiting many workers.

The recruitment demand is large

As a locality with many Export Processing Zones and Industrial Parks with large labor needs, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Binh Duong province said that forecasting recruitment needs from now until the end of the year of businesses in the province should about 20,000 workers. Of which, there are about 15,000 skilled workers and unskilled workers, the rest are professional workers. It is forecast that businesses' demand for labor recruitment will increase from October 2023.

A survey by the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center with fourty five businesses shows that from now until the end of 2023, these businesses need to recruit over 4,300 workers. Ms. Nguyen Van Hanh Thuc, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center, said that the unit is currently consulting and introducing jobs directly to workers every day at the Center and six Unemployment Insurance branches in districts 4, 6, 12, Tan Binh district, Cu Chi district and Thu Duc city. Workers will receive advice and job introductions completely free of charge.

Facing the need to recruit many workers to serve production activities, on September 21, Hanoi Employment Service Center coordinated with Employment Service Centers of provinces and cities to organize a online job trading session connecting eight provinces and cities. This is an activity to support businesses in recruiting suitable labor sources to restore and develop production and business activities as well as support workers to find jobs in the new situation. Participating in the online job transaction session there were 116 businesses with the need to recruit 16,628 workers.

According to experts, although the labor market in the coming time will have more positive signals, it is necessary to anticipate and forecast market fluctuations that affect employment. Mr. Pham Xuan Hong, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Textile, Apparel and Knitting Association, said that at this time there are signs of recovery, businesses are also more optimistic when some businesses only reduce by 15 - 20% instead of decreasing by 20%. - 30% as before. But the general business context is difficult, production orders have not yet reached capacity. It is forecast that it will take early 2024 for the market to recover more clearly.
