The discussion will take place at 9a.m on 16 February 2017

In July, 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 2847/QD-BCT investigating the safeguard measures for painted galvanized steel sheet imported to Vietnam with HS code: 7210.7010, 7210.7090, 7212.4010, 7212.4020, 7212.4090, 7225.9990, 7226.9919, 7226.9999 (SG05 case).

To December, 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 4993/QD-BCT extending more than 2 months to investigate the application of safeguard measures against painted galvanized steel sheet imported to Vietnam (until 6 March, 2017).

According to Article 7 of Ordinance No. 42/2002/PL-UBTVQH10 on Safeguards on imports of foreign goods into Vietnam and Article 15 of Decree No. 150/2003/ND-CP detailing the implementation of the Ordinance on safeguards in the import of foreign goods into Vietnam, the Competition Administration Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) will hold a discussion for related parties to present their views relating to the case.

The Discustion will held at 9 a.m on 16 February, 2017 at the Meeting Room 101, 25 Ngo Quyen, HoanKiem, Hanoi, Vietnam

The Competition Administration Department also noted that the Discustion is not compulsory and parties who are absent at the Disscusion are still ensured legal rights and benefits as described.

Earlier, representatives of enterprises including: Dai ThienLoc Joint Stock Company, Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Company and Dong A Steel Sheet Joint Stock Company - 3 enterprises had market share accounting for 25.17% of the total domestically manufactured volume subject to the investigation and prosecuted (plaintiff) after the oversupply occurred on the above goods due to massive imports of other enterprises.

According to these enterprises, the volume of galvanized steel sheet imported from China sharply increased, the total redundant galvanized steel sheet(painted galvanized steel sheet, cold galvanized steel sheets, zinc galvanized steel sheets and zinc galvanized thickness steel) in the current domestic market is approximately 1,204,103 tons. Meanwhile, the total consumed products of galvanized steel products was 738, 906 tons.
