Hanoi Customs has ever discovered 10,000 smuggled cigars through Noi Bai international airport at the end of February 2019.

The shipment consists of a package weighing 16kg, which was sent by international post from Germany to the warehouse of the Northern International Postal Operation Center (Tan Trai village, Phu Cuong commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi). The consignor’s name is: Kristigan Stoichkov Aarstraße 26, 65195 Wiesbaden; The consignee on the bill of lading is: NGUYEN VIET-ANH, THYLOI - TIENLU COMUNITY, TIEN LU DISTRICT, HUNG YEN, HA NOI - VIET NAM.

The consignee named on the bill of lading refuses to receive the shipment. Through the inspection, the customs force discovered 16 cigar boxes containing 375 new cigars, the labels shown on the packs are Cohiba and Romeo Y Julieta Habana.

For act of violations on import license and customs declaration, the Customs Control Team has decided to temporarily seize the above cigars to wait for a decision by the competent authority.

On the same day, Import Luggage Procedures Team - Noi International Airport Border Gate Customs Branch checked personal luggage including 2 suitcases of a passenger named Villar CeBallos, born in 1984, Cuban nationality, passport number K289933. Inside the suitcases there were 663 unbranded cigars. This passenger did not present the import license and documents related to the above shipment.

The above acts have violated the immigration policy on goods import. The methods of violation are import via personal luggage, non-submission of an import license and non-declaration. The case is being processed by Customs force.
