Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue: The State revenue increased thanks to the excess revenue collection of over hundred trillion VND

Ho Chi Minh City excellently hit the target

Quickly reporting on the State budget revenue and expenditure of the whole country in 2018, Mr. Ta Anh Tuan- General Director of the State Treasury said that until 2 p.m on 31st December 2018, the total balanced State budget revenue of the country was VND 1.420 million billion, reaching over 107% of the estimate.

Talking with press on the occasion of the New Year 2019 (on 2nd January), the Deputy Prime Minister said that the revenue in 2018 is higher than revenue in 2017, which is a surprise.

Notably, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the revenue increased in central revenue, local revenue, domestic revenue and import and export revenues.

“In the excess revenue, the central revenue increased over VND 30 trillion, local revenue increased over VND 70 trillion. The domestic revenue was higher than the estimate, revenue from the import-export of the Customs sector exceeded the target and reached over VND 300 trillion for the first time (updated by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the revenue of the entire sector reached VND 314.777 billion),”-Deputy Prime Minister said.

Especially, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue was impressed with the excess revenue of some large localities, typically Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in 2018, the Ho Chi Minh City’s revenue was VND 377 trillion, reaching 100.11% of the estimated target, which is a remarkable achievement because as of 28th December 2018 this city’s revenue had only collected 98% of the estimated target.

“Each percent of the Ho Chi Minh City’s revenue is huge, up to trillions of VND, so that in the last days of 2018, Ho Chi Minh City has still made great efforts and collected revenue exceeding the estimated target, contributing to the general achievement on State revenue of the whole country. A year has 365 days, in which Ho Chi Minh City collected up to VND 377 trillion,”- Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue added.

A city that was also mentioned by the Government’s leaders with its great effort in implementing the revenue collection task is Hai Phong City.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, at first, it was thought that Hai Phong might not complete the domestic revenue target, but with its great effort and determination, at the end of the year the city’s revenue exceeded the estimate by about VND 2 trillion, reaching over VND 24 trillion. In addition, the Hai Phong Customs Department’s revenue was over VND 50 trillion.

The Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the revenue collection in 2018 helps us have additional revenue and ensures the balance of budget revenue and expenditure. Particularly, there will be extra funds for investment, development and accumulation to reform salaries, and additional resources for national defense, security, social welfare, regime for people who are accredited.

Great effort of the Finance sector

The spectacular revenue in 2018 has shown the efficiency in implementing solutions to facilitate the Government’s production and business, from the close direction of the Prime Minister and the Government leaders on the collection and expenditure; the great effort of the Finance sector and localities to increase revenues.

Especially, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the Finance sector’s great efforts and localities.

He said that on the New Year holidays, many officers of the Finance sector worked hard to collect and contribute to the State budget, especially the Tax sector, Customs sector and Treasury.

“The Minister of Finance, Director Generals of the Finance sector in the New Year’s holidays regularly monitored and updated the revenue collection to report to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in charge,” – Deputy Prime Minister said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Prime Minister and he also regularly monitors and updates the situation of budget revenues and expenditures from the Ministry of Finance and localities to promptly direct and encourage.

In the last New Year holiday, Deputy Prime Minister directly visited and encouraged officers in Financial units in Nghe An province.

“On the evening of 31st December 2018, I checked the budget expenditure in the State Treasury of Nghe An Province and saw that 100% of the officers were on duty. On 1st January 2019, these officers were not allowed to be off because they had to prepare to open the book for 2019,” Deputy Prime Minister stressed.

Deputy Prime Minister shared: that officers in the finance sector, especially many young civil servants had to sacrifice their holidays to make efforts to complete the task.
