The information presented by the Vietnam e-commerce Association (VECOM) at the press conference on “Vietnam online business forum 2018 (VOBF 2018) taking place on 5th March in Ha Noi, it showed that Vietnam’s e-commerce growth rate in 2017 reached over 25% and this rate can be maintained for 2018-2020.

The growth rate of some specific areas was explosive. For the online retail area, information from thousands of e-commerce websites showed that revenue growth rate in 2017 increased by 35%.

Also VECOM, under the indirect survey for some delivery companies, the revenue growth rate of delivery services was from 62% to 200%. For the payment area, the national Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), in 2017, the volume of online domestic card transaction increased about 50% compared to 2016, while transaction value increased to 75%. For the online marketing area, the growth rate of some affiliate marketing companies in 2017 reached from 100% -200%.

In order to have further overall view on Vietnam e-commerce, by 14th and 16th March 2018, VOBF will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City respectively.

Mr. Tran Van Trong, Director of Office of VECOM said that “this forum will include 4 sessions on 4 themes. Specifically, the first session has a theme, “the age of connection and information sharing”. The speaker of the first session will discuss the trends of e-commerce, 2018, the ability to maintain high growth rates as of 2017, and new motivation to achieve this growth”.

“The remarkable issues in online business” is the theme of the second session. This session will discuss about the issues which are of interest to organizations, agencies and businesses engaged in online business, including tax management for e-commerce, shared economy, blockchain technology and digital currency, information security and protection of personal information”.

“The third session will discuss the impact of technology on e-commerce, and the fourth session is an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to discuss the topic of "successful start-ups with e-commerce."

In addition, the report on Vietnam E-Commerce Index 2018 will also be published at VOBF 2018.
