In great demand

Ms. Lu Thi Phuong Truc, Deputy Director of THAICO Trading and Service Company Limited, said that most businesses are lacking workers who are skilled engineers. Therefore, students who apply will be accepted immediately. Specific work includes construction and installation of air conditioning systems, VRV, chillers; Checking and installing residential air conditioners...

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Hieu, Director of the Center for Forecasting Human Resources Needs and Labor Market Information in Ho Chi Minh City (Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City), said that in the first six months of 2024, the labor market in Ho Chi Minh City has a positive development trend. consistent with economic trends and development needs of the city. In addition, the need for workers to find jobs tends to increase in commercial industries and fields; administration, office, translation and interpretation, accounting - auditing, marketing... with high qualifications and work experience.

According to the survey, Ho Chi Minh City businesses need about 153,500 - 161,500 working places in the last six months of the year. It is expected that human resource demand will focus on recruitment in key industry groups and main service industry groups. Specifically, the trade and service sector needs about 102,676 - 108,027 workers; The industrial - construction sector needs about 50,701 - 53,343 workers; Human resource needs in key industrial groups need about 23,961 - 25,210 workers...

Statistics from Binh Duong Employment Service Center show that in the first six months of this year, there were 3,210 enterprises recruiting more than 40,000 workers. It is expected that in the last six months of the year, businesses will recruit 30,000 more workers. According to assessments, recruitment demand increased compared to the previous year, due to more positive changes in the economic situation in Binh Duong. Many businesses in Binh Duong have more orders and expand production, so they need to recruit more workers.

Notably, foreign invested enterprises are quickly building factories and recruiting workers for production. For example, Lego Group built a US $1.3 billion factory in Tan Uyen, Binh Duong. Currently, this group is recruiting workers to prepare for production activities this year.

Enterprises "have difficulty" in recruiting

Recordings from businesses show that, in addition to the need for skilled, professionally trained labor, unskilled labor is also in high demand. However, labor shortage is happening in many businesses. Recently, some businesses have "tried every possible way" but they cannot recruit enough workers for production. Some businesses have even brought personnel to the company gate to recruit but it is still difficult to find suitable personnel.

Regarding businesses facing difficulties in recruitment, according to survey results of the Center for Human Resource Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information in Ho Chi Minh City, out of 654 businesses, there are about 154 businesses (accounting for 23.55%) responded that they had difficulty recruiting, focusing largely on the wholesale and retail industries; manufacturing and processing industry; information and communication; Administrative activities and support services…

According to Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huong, National Human Resources Director, ManpowerGroup Vietnam, thanks to the digital age, workers have never had access to as much job information as they do today. Taking advantage of this, most businesses recruit human resources on electronic platforms. However, for unskilled workers living in small localities, they have little opportunity to interact with technology. They do not even have smartphones or the internet, so they are almost unaware of the above job opportunities the market is right for them. Besides, a number of workers are not ready to accept seasonal or short-term job opportunities. While most unskilled labor jobs depend on the enterprise's production plan or on orders.

Limiting the gap, businesses need to understand that each labor segment will have different needs and desires when looking for meaningful work. Understanding these things will help businesses have appropriate policies to attract, recruit and retain workers, increasing their competitive advantage in the recruitment market.

Mr. Ho Ngoc Vu, representative of Daikin Vietnam Training Department, said that Daikin Vietnam and some schools such as Cao Thang Technical College coordinate to train and test technicians and students according to knowledge standards. and skills of Daikin company. This is to provide human resources for Daikin Vietnam company in particular and companies in the field of air conditioning in general. On average each year, the program trains about 200 qualified students.
