According to the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch (HCM City Customs Department), in more than eight months of 2020, the number of cars imported through Hiep Phuoc port decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2019. As of September 8, the unit had implemented clearance procedures for nearly 28,000 imported cars, down nearly 20,000 units (equivalent to 19.8%) compared to the same period in 2019.
The fall in the number of imported cars caused a sharp decrease in revenue collection of Hiep Phuoc port Customs Branch. Including the revenue collected from automobiles, for more than eight months, the state revenue of the unit reached more than VND7,109 billion, down nearly VND5,300 billion.
According to the leader of Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch, there are currently 10 enterprises importing cars through Hiep Phuoc port. In recent years, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch has always supported and created the best conditions for businesses to clear goods.
Currently, the amount of imported cars has signs of increrasing compared to the previous period. The Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch will actively discuss with businesses to have solutions for timely support and generating revenues.
