Due to the corona epidemic, the Chinese side has suspended the operation of the market for border residents, so import-export activities through Lao Cai international border gate have become quiet, especially the exports of Vietnamese agricultural products to China, said the leader of Lao Cai international border gate customs branch on January 30.

“However, at present, there is no written document on the Chinese side imposing a ban on travel or trade at the border area like some other areas in the northern border. The situation of passengers on exit and entry between the two countries is closely monitored by specialised agencies by using body temperature monitoring equipment to quickly detect suspected cases and take timely prevention measures," said the leader of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs.

Regarding prevention and control of the corona epidemic in Lao Cai province, according to Lao Cai Newspaper, as of January 30, the number of people suspected of infection and undergoing at isolation treatment area in Lao Cai general hospital has increased to nine.

According to the update by Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch, from 23 to 30 January 2020, the Branch made customs clearance for goods worth nearly US$4.2 million, of which, export turnover reached nearly $3.45 million.

In which, eight people returned from China and one person contacted Vietnamese workers returning to Lao Cai from China for Tet holiday. All of these people have been isolated and treated according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health at the Department of Infectious Diseases, Lao Cai General Hospital. The health sector has sent samples of all suspected patients to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. In addition, thanks to body temperature meter at Lao Cai International Border Gate, 10 tourists including nine Chinese tourists and one Thai tourist travelling from China with signs of fever were forced to return to their home countries.

At the Lao Cai - Ha Khau international border gate, from January 25 to January 29, there were 4,186 tourists from China entering Vietnam. All tourists were instructed to disinfect their hands at the beginning of the bridge and at the table of medical declaration before entry.

At Cao Bang border area, leaders of important branches engaging in trading with China reported that imports and exports during the Lunar New Year were quieter than usual. Regarding the prevention of the corona epidemic, Cao Bang Customs Department has seriously implemented the guidelines of the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and leaders at all levels.
