Vietnam records more than 1,000 cyber-attacks over four-month period

The first four months of the year saw Vietnam's information systems endure more than 1,000 cyber-attacks,

April alone saw the country’s information systems receive 203 attacks which led to incidents, including 43 relating to phishing, 89 cases of deface, and 71 malware installations.

The Department of Information Security has therefore reported that the number of attacks has enjoyed a drop of 28% in comparison to March’s figures, and a total decline of 68.2% from the same period last year.

The main reason attributed to this sharp decrease in the number of cyber-attacks is that agencies, organisations, and users are becoming better equipped with standard information security solutions in order to repel potential attacks. In addition, legal regulations and sanctions have developed significantly, therefore serving to deter high-tech criminals.
