Vietnam exports nearly 850 million medical masks

According to the preliminary statistics by the General Department of Customs, in August, the country had over 70 enterprises exporting medical masks of all kinds with more than 135 million pieces, down 12% compared to July, equivalent to nearly 19 million pieces.

Notably, although the number of enterprises exporting masks increased by 10 enterprises compared to July 2020, export volume declined. August wasthe second consecutive month (since July when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out again in Vietnam) that the export of this commodity has decreased.

Generally, from the beginning of the year to the end of August, the country's enterprises exported more than 846 million medical masks. Ofwhich, the highest export volume was in June with more than 236 million pieces.

After the period of application for the export license of medical masks for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic (under the Government's Resolution 20 / NQ-CP of February 28, 2020), export activity of medical maskshas returned to normal from May 2020 according to the Government's Resolution No. 60 / NQ-CP of April 29, 2020.

In Resolution No. 60 / NQ-CP, the Government assigned the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to publicize the list and production capacity of medical mask producers; and assigned the Ministry of Finance to publicize the list of exporters and the volume of exported medical masks.
