According to liberationnews.org (USA), a neighboring country with China – where the Covid-19 outbreak started – Vietnam has had "a spectacular performance" in the global fight against the disease. Vietnam's anti-epidemic achievements have beenrecognized due to its comprehensivedisease prevention model with low-cost by international organizations– including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Economic Forum (WEF).

On February 1, when Vietnam recorded the 6th case of Covid-19, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed a decision to classify it as a type A infectious disease that can transmit very quickly and spread widely with high mortality. The VietnameseGovernmenthas also established a National Steering Committee for the Prevention of Covid-19 to accelerate response to a pandemic. The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Health have quickly introduced anapplication forpeople to report their health status and update disease information.

The WEF assesses Vietnam as a "beacon" on responseto the Covid-19 epidemic, while resources are limited. The l’Obs newspaper (France) affirmed "Vietnam is the leading praiseworthy country" in the waragainst Covid-19.The article highlights collective and responsible action in combating the epidemic in Vietnam, such as the wearing of masks by the entire population; Vietnamese functional forces also always accompany the people; broadcasting prevention tips through the loudspeakersthroughout the districts. The whole population receives an SMS almost daily with instructions or notices to find people at risk. According to the author, collective and responsible action is a comprehensive solution to the epidemic.

The international media also reviewed measures of the Vietnamese Government, such as social distancing, banning gatherings of more than two people in public places, keeping a minimum distance of two meters in communicating, temporarily closing unnecessary business activities.

In addition, the VietnameseGovernmentalso issued warnings against stockpiling, avoidingpanic, and having sanctions on enterprisespushing upprices to control market price.

The article stated that Vietnam was not astrong economy, with non-completely moderninfrastructure, but it managed the Covid-19 pandemic very meticulously, demonstrating the protective role of the State towards the people.

The New York Times (USA) stated that thanks to "smart" efforts, Vietnam had ensured a lower infection rate than many neighboring countries.

The Deutsche Welle (Germany) analyzed the cause of Vietnam's success in this tough battle, noting that Vietnam had implemented a widespread public surveillance system, using disciplined military forces, with people’s trust and respectto participate in the epidemic. The Governmentlikened the fight against epidemics to "fighting against the enemy" and mobilizing people to participatewhile accepting significant economic losses.

The articles stated that in order to ensure social security for affected workers, Vietnam had approved a financial support packageworth US$111.55 million, including all expenses for workers in an isolated area or recovering from an illness.

According to international media, Vietnam is densely populated and people are at high risk of exposure to germs. This requires a strongpublic health system to respond promptly to emerging challenges and quickly disseminate information. Thanks to the health system focusing on the safety and health of the people, Vietnam has achieved impressive results in disease prevention and control. Earlier, in 2003, WHO also recognized Vietnam as the first country in successfully preventing the SARS epidemic.
