On April 13, Truong Dinh Hoe, General Secretary of Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), sent a letter to thank leaders of the General Department of Customs for timely support in solving problems of seafood exporting enterprises and export production enterprises related to regulations on the registration forusing foreign codes and barcodes on packaging of export shipments

In the letter, VASEP said thetimely removal of the above problems in Document No. 2324 / TCHQ-GSQL of April 14, 2020 of the General Department of Customs helped enterprises reduce complex and cumbersome regulations, wasting time, money and resources and to help enterprises quicklyclearexport shipments in the current context.

After receiving the document from the General Department of Customs, the seafood business community was very happy and thanked the General Department for the timely support. This support is true to the leading spirit of reform and for the development of the country of the General Department of Customs for many years.

VASEP also said that the inadequacies of codes and barcodes on exports in Government's Decree No. 74/2018 / ND-CP of May 15, 2018 amending and supplementing articles of Decree No. 132 / 2008 / ND-CP dated December 31, 2008, VASEP reported to the Ministry of Science and Technology for consideration.

According to Customs Newspaper, early in 2020, seafood enterprises reflected that export shipments must be certified by competent agencies on codes and barcodes for specific cases when registering to use foreign barcodes. This provision has increased administrative procedures and costs for enterprises.

The General Department of Customs issued urgent Official Letter No. 2324 / TCHQ-GSQL directing Customs branches to unify the implementation, to facilitate exports, customs officers do not require customs declarants to produce certification of authorities on the use of foreign barcodes.
