Top Vietnamese leader highlights great potential for Vietnam-UAE cooperation
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong (R) hosts the UAE's Minister of Energy and Industry Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazrouei
At the reception, Trong expressed his confidence that the UAE Minister’s Vietnam visit would help further boost the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially in energy and industry.
He said that with the combined efforts made by both sides, the friendship and economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries will see dynamically efficient development.
Trong also congratulated the UAE on its tremendous socio-economic achievements and affirmed Vietnam’s recognition of great importance to the sound friendship and multi-dimensional cooperation with the UAE, one of Vietnam’s leading trade, investment and labour partners in the Middle East.
He showed his elation at the robust development of the bilateral ties over past time, showing his wish to soon welcome President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Vietnam visit and suggesting maintaining exchange visits at all levels.
He underscored the need for both sides to share information, establish channels to promptly provide information for the business circles, and incentivize businesspeople to partake in trade fairs, expos, seminars, and business forums in the respective countries, thus striving for the bilateral trade target of US$10 billion before 2020.
Vietnam and the UAE boast potential to step up their cooperation and investments in new and renewable energy, oil and gas, and infrastructure, and should encourage and facilitate their businesses’ plans to carry out investment projects, market research, oil and gas production, and renewable energy development, Trong said whilst asking the UAE to share experience in energy security with Vietnam.
He suggested broadening mutually beneficial cooperation in finance service, shipbuilding and repair, garments and textiles, footwear, food processing, and agriculture.
Additionally, he urged both sides to intensify cooperation through exchange visits and information and experience sharing in culture, sports, tourism, education-training, science-technology, environmental protection and climate change.
The visiting UAE Minister handed over a letter from UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan inviting Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong to make an official visit to the UAE and attend the 24th World Energy Congress scheduled for September 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
He briefed his host on the outcomes of his talks with the Minister of Trade and expressed his desire to augment economic cooperation between the two countries, primarily in energy.
