The whole country spends over US$147 billion to import goods

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the total import value of goods into Vietnam in the second half of May (16/5 to 31/5) reached US$15.18 billion, decreasing 12.1% (equivalent to a decrease of US$2.09 billion) compared to the results in the first half of May.
The import value of goods in the second half of May also reduced mainly in some commodity groups such as computers, electronic products and components declined by US$543 million (equivalent to a decrease of 12%); fabrics of all kinds dropped by US$200 million (equivalent to a decrease of 24.6%); machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reduced by US$139 million (equivalent to a drop of 6.3%); raw plastic materials decreased by US$133 million (equal to a decline of 22.4%); gasoline and oil of all kinds down by US$132 million (equivalent to a decrease of 30.4%); steel of all kinds reduced by US$127 million (equivalent to a drop of 20.4%)...
However, the statistical data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs also recorded that the import value of some commodity groups in the second half of May increased sharply compared to the previous period such as ores and minerals grew by US$80 million (equivalent to an increase of 99.9%); corn increased by US$62 million (equivalent to a growth of 100%); telephones and components of all kinds rose by US$43 million (comparable to an increase of 13.8%); all sorts of fertilizers grew by US$31.9 million (equivalent to a growth of 44.2%)...
Thus, by the end of May, the total import value of the whole country reached US$147.67 billion, up 17.3% (equivalent to an increase of US$21.77 billion) compared to the same period last year.
According to the statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the import value of goods of FDI enterprises in the first half of May reached US$9.68 billion, reducing 10.1% (equivalent to a decrease of US$1.09 billion).
By the end of May, the total import value of the FDI enterprise group reached US$93.51 billion, growing 14.5% (equivalent to an increase of US$11.87 billion) compared to the same period last year, accounting for 63.4% of the total import value of the whole country.
