Reaching nearly US$ 12 billion, Textiles and garments and Computers fiercely compete against each other

In the second half of June, the total export turnover reached over US $ 9.21 billion, up 13.2% (an increase of nearly US $ 1.08 billion) over the first half of June.
The export turnover in second half of June increased more than the first half of June due to the increase of some commodity groups: Computers, electronic products, and components up by US$ 272 million; Textiles and garments up by 16.7%, equivalent to US $ 179 million; Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts up by 25%, equivalent to US$ 111 million; Iron and steel up by US $ 171.6 million, equivalent to US $ 109 million; and Aquatic products up by 35%, equivalent to US $ 107.6 million ...
Thus, by the end of June, the total Vietnam’s export turnover reached over US $ 97.72 billion, up 18.8%, equal to nearly US $ 15.48 billion over the same period in 2016.
In the ten largest export groups, mobile phones and accessories still remained at No. 1 with a turnover of US $ 19.5 billion, up nearly 15% over the same period of 2016.
In particular, the two adjacent commodity groups as textiles and garments and computers, electronic products and components are in the fierce competition to win the No. 2
In previous years, textiles and garments always maintained at No. 2, however, from the beginning of 2017 until now, the computers, electronic products, and components have risen strongly and always threatened the position of textiles and garments. At the beginning of May 2017, computers, electronic products and components surpassed textiles and garments to win No. 2 in exports. However, after that, the textiles and garments have regained this position.
And by the end of June, textiles, and garments remained at No. 2 with a turnover of nearly US $ 11.75 billion. Meanwhile, computers, electronic products, and components are closely following with a turnover of US $ 11.56 billion.
However, with the growth rate of 45.8% of computers, electronic products and components over the same period of 2016 in comparison with the growth rate of only 8.5% of textiles and garments, the No. 2 of this group are likely to be swapped.

According to the new information from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the total country’s import and export turnover at the end of June reached nearly US$ 198.22 billion, up 21.5%, equal to over US$ 35.02 billion over the same period in 2016. In particular, the total import-export turnover of foreign-invested enterprises (FDI) reached more than US$ 129.62 billion, up 23.9% equal to US $ 24.97 billion over the same period in 2016. |
