The State President’s recent visits to Switzerland and Russia achieved dual outcomes in both bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activities, in which renovation and creativity and consolidating the strategic trust are prominent issues.

In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that renovation and creativity is one of Vietnam’s strategies to 2030, along with the digital economic transform. Switzerland is among the top countries in this field, that is why Vietnam warmly welcomes the cooperation of the two countries’ firms in this field.

The Swiss President said one of the priorities of his country in cooperating with Vietnam is the building of a legal framework favourable for the effective implementation of intellectual property and renovation which, he said, are the factors that strongly attract Swiss investors to Vietnam.

The two leaders agreed to upgrade the bilateral 2019 document on renovation, science and technology into a protocol.

In the meetings with leading officials of the United Nations, the World Health Organisation, the World Trade Organisation and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, one of the most-touched issues was the acceleration of the cooperation between Vietnam and members organisations of the UN in renovation, science and technology.

The talks between President Phuc and Russian President Vladimir Putin were an event of important significance in consolidating the strategic trust of the traditional relationship between the two countries.

President Putin said the visit created a powerful force in strengthening the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and raising its prestige in the international arena, and affirmed Russia always takes Vietnam as its top strategic partner in the region.

President Phuc affirmed Vietnam always attaches importance to its traditional relations of friendship and its comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

In the subsequent joint statement, the two sides affirmed their joint determination to further strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership to 2030, and took the consolidation of the strategic trust as the foundation for the further expansion and strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all the fields.In their meeting with President Phuc, other Russian leaders affirmed the success of the visit will help usher in a new period of vigorous, comprehensive, effective and sustainable development of the bilateral relations.

Not only in the field of diplomacy, the Vietnam – Russia strategic trust is manifested in the promotion of trade and invesment. President Phuc raised an idea of increasing the trade revenue by 15 – 20 folds, and investment by 3 folds in the time to come, and affirmed Vietnam’s determination to create every favourable condition for Russian firms’ investment and operation in Vietnam to match the stature and strategic trust of the trans-century relationship between the two nations./.
