The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half (16-30/9/2023) of September-2023, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 16.3 billion and imports of US dollars 14.55 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 1.76 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of September was US dollars 30.85 billion, up by 9.9% as compared to the first half of September-2023.
Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the second half of September of 2023 totaled US dollars 496.3 billion in value terms. It posted a reduction of 11.2% (equivalent to USD 62.78 billion) from the same period of previous year. In which, the total merchandise exports value was down 8.5% to US dollars 258.97 billion and the total merchandise imports value was down 14%, to US dollars 237.33 billion.

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation from January to the second half of September of 2023 reached USD 341.65 billion, down by 11.9% as compared to the same period of last year.

Export:

When compared with the first half of September-2023, export of second half of September increased by 14.1%, mostly as a result of the upturn registered in computers, electrical products (up by 15.7% - USD 399 million equally); irons and steels (up by 137% - USD 248 million equally); textiles and garments (up by 14.1% - USD 169 million equally); foot-wears (up by 27% - USD 159 million equally); telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof (up by 4.5% - USD 111 million equally); means of transportation (up by 19.7% - USD 109 million equally ); …

Import:

In the second half of September 2023, import increased by 5.6% when compared with the first half of September, mainly reflecting the upturn in telephones, mobile phones and parts thereof (up by 33.8% - USD 137 million equally); machine, tools & equipments (up by 7% - USD 120 million equally ); chemicals (up by 23.3% - USD 66.57 million equally).
