PM Phuc pledges optimal conditions for Japanese enterprises
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosts President and Chief Executive Officer of Japan’s Mitsui Tatsuo Yasunaga (L).
During these meetings, PM Phuc affirmed the Vietnamese Government’s readiness to offer favourable conditions for foreign businesses to do business in Vietnam, including those from Japan.
At the reception for Yasunaga, the PM said that the Vietnamese Government welcomes the partnership between Mitsui and Minh Phu Seafood Corporation – a major shrimp farming business in Vietnam and the world. Vietnam has set a target for US$10 billion in shrimp exports, he said, adding that the success of Mitsui will help lure more major corporations to Vietnam.
The signing of agreements between the two countries, especially the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) would make Mitsui feel secure about the legal framework when doing business in Vietnam, he noted while hoping that Mitsui will further increase its consumption of Vietnamese goods.
Yasunaga, in turn, told Phuc that Mitsui has decided to pour US$100 million into Vietnam’s Minh Phu Group, saying he hopes that via the bilateral partnership, Minh Phu’s shrimp export will increase to US$1 billion from the current US$700 million.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (L) and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Honda Motor Seiji Kuraishi.
Talking to Kuraishi, the PM praised Honda for its quality products, tax contributions to Vietnam’s State budget, and social activities. He asked to make more contribution to developing Vietnam’s support industry and purchase more spare parts from Vietnam.
He thanked the Vietnamese Government for its support, as well as the Vietnamese people for trusting Honda products over the years, saying Honda is expanding into auto manufacturing in Vietnam and desires to receive more support from Vietnamese relevant agencies.
Honda is promoting a campaign to present helmets to Vietnamese children with 2 million helmets having been presented so far with a view to raising public awareness about traffic safety, he noted.
